DfE announces 3,500 extra SEND school places

12th March 2019

Yesterday the Department for Education announced around 3,500 extra school places are to be created “for pupils facing the biggest challenges in their education” (link to article).

Tracie Linehan, CEO, comments “This could be a great opportunity to continue to raise the standard of education for children with SEND through more specialist placements; hopefully taking the pressure off current schools, giving them space to utilize their resources with greater impact. It should also offer the chance for independent special school providers to work in partnership in their local areas”.
