As our Head of Finance, you will play a critical role in the charity, keeping us financially strong, strategically agile, and ready for growth. Working closely with the CEO, COO, Senior Management Team (SMT), Trustees, and key external stakeholders, you will help us continue to provide life-changing services and education.
What you’ll do
This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role, perfect for someone who thrives on collaboration and wants to shape the financial future of a high-impact charity. Your responsibilities will include:
- Partnering with the CEO, COO, SMT, and Trustees to drive financial decision-making and strategic planning
- Leading on all financial planning, reporting, and management accounts to ensure financial rigour
- Overseeing budget setting, year-end reporting, and external audits in line with Charity SORP
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies, including the Charity Commission, Ofsted, and Company Law
- Preparing and presenting financial reports for the Board and Finance Committee meetings
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with banks, local authorities, insurers, and landlords
- Overseeing payroll, pensions, employee benefits, and internal controls to maintain financial efficiency and compliance
What we are looking for
We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking finance professional who shares our vision and values. The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualified Accountant with a strong understanding of Charity SORP
- Experience at a senior level within the charity and/or education sector (preferred)
- A proven track record in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and compliance
- The ability to think critically, challenge assumptions, and provide financial modelling and analysis
- Strong stakeholder management skills – comfortable working with Boards, leadership teams, and external partners
- A keen eye for detail and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
