We’re delighted to announce that we have been named winners in the project category for the 2022 Vocational Rehabilitation Awards. The award is for a project or initiative that contributes to outstanding Vocational Rehabilitation practice.
Huge thanks go to the VRA and congratulations to our fellow nominees. The category contained some great projects that would have all been worthy winners.
This amazing news recognises the impact that resources like our toolkit can have in creating opportunities for autistic adults in the workplace. In particular, for our cohort of learners. The judging panel focused on how well-thought out the toolkit was and inclusive to all through its accessibility. They also highlighted the fact it is provided free of charge, thanks to a grant from City Bridge Trust.
Nearly 80% of autistic adults aren’t in any form of employment[1] and 60% of employers are worried about getting support wrong[2] , not knowing where to go to get information about supporting autistic employees. Our toolkit supports both the individual and employer. With information on autism, communication and reasonable adjustments for the employer and personalised resources and tools for the individual, our toolkit aims to gives autistic people better access to, and support in, employment. It has been fantastic to see the reception that the toolkit has received since launching in September 2021. This award is a recognition of the work the team has put in. We’ll be building on this success, leading the way in autism education, seeking to ensure thinking around employability starts as early as primary school, opening up opportunities for autistic young adults.
