Prospective parent coffee morning – Education, Health and Care Plans and appeals

2nd November 2018

This morning we hosted a coffee morning for prospective parents. Laxmi Patel, partner at Boyes Turner, came in to deliver a presentation on the SEN Process and how to appeal to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal.

The prospective parents, many of whom attend our Early Years’ service, came to hear about what an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is and what the advantages are of having one. Laxmi broke down into simple steps the process you have to follow to request an EHCP, what it should contain, and the steps you have to follow should you need to appeal – including what to expect at tribunal.

There were plenty of questions from parents going through the different stages of tribunals, and Laxmi was on hand to answer each of these.

If you have a service you think a group parents would benefit from hearing about, and would be willing to give up your time to talk to them, please get in touch.
