Last week work began at Park House School to renovate the basement area into a specialised kitchen teaching room.
The space was previously split between a teaching room and a small kitchen with a single oven, designed when the school catered for a much smaller number of pupils. The first stage of the work is to merge the two rooms into one. The wall will be removed creating a large open plan area to fit a state-of-the-art kitchen. There will be an increased number of hobs, ovens, and specialist equipment as well as more workspace for group learning.
It will be a fresher and brighter space for our pupils to develop their independence skills: a place where pupils can learn about food hygiene and nutrition, work on restrictive diets, as well as develop a love of food and cooking.
The refurbishment wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our supporters. We would like to thank all the Trusts and Foundations, alongside individual donors and fundraisers, have helped us to get the project off the ground.
We anticipate the new space will be ready for the pupils’ return in September. Watch out for further updates of the refurb.
Projects like this are so important to our charity as we strive to create the best possible opportunities for learners. If you’d like to donate to help make more projects like this a reality, you can do so here .
