Autistic children are leaving school unprepared for their next steps with almost half saying they would like help planning for adult life.[1] This is reflected by just 21.7% of autistic adults being in any form of employment.[2]
More support is needed for autistic young adults trying to carve their way into employment. In 2021 we developed our employability toolkit designed to help those looking for employment. We’re delighted to announce that the toolkit has been selected as a finalist in the project category for the 2022 Vocational Rehabilitation Association Awards.
The toolkit and resource pack provide information around employment definitions, access to funding and practical resources such as personalised vocational profiles. The toolkit also provides great tips and information for employers looking to support autistic employees.
Since launching in September 2021 our toolkit has been received by over 1100 people either digitally or as a hard copy. We’ve also delivered a range of training and webinars to accompany the toolkit sharing the different features and how to get the most out of the resource.
We are delighted to be acknowledged with this nomination and are looking forward to the announcement of the winners at the ceremony in December. Get your ticket for the event here , where we look forward to raising awareness of our resource and ensure more people have access to that support.
