Islington Additional Needs and Disability Service supports babies, children and young people with additional needs and disabilities to reach their full potential. This can mean being active in their community and engaging in meaningful occupations such as play, developing friendships, developing independence skills and enjoying school and leisure activities.
Within their service they have integrated teams which are made up of a range of healthcare professionals including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, clinical psychologists, specialist nurses, family counselling, therapy assistants, health care assistants and specialist key workers. Their integrated service allows professionals to work holistically and to provide a responsive and streamlined family centre service. They work in partnership with Islington local authority. Their teams are collocated in across various locations in Islington including health centres, schools, nurseries, children’s centres, special schools and the Whittington hospital.
