National Autistic Society is a leading UK charity for people with autism (including Asperger Syndrome) and their families, providing information, support and pioneering services, and campaigning for a better world for people with autism. Its Transition Support Service provides impartial, confidential information, advice and support to parents and carers of autistic children and young people making the transition from school to adult life or further education. They can help with the following: general information about parents’ and children’s rights and entitlements throughout the transition process; assistance with exploring children’s options so that parents and their children can make informed decisions; information about other services that may be useful during the transition process, such as legal services; and guidance and support on specific issues such as engaging children, finding suitable provision, making a complaint or appealing against a decision.
